about

little sunflower is

an ode to our siblings,
earthside and those watching over us,
inspired by a few of my favorite films, people, and places

a gift in homage to my own sister.
to the sisters who have recently left us earthside:
my mother’s late sister, my Knonnie’s late sister, and my friend Jake's late triplet.
and to my dog and her sister, who both turn four today.

sending deepest gratitude to:

our growing list of ancestors and trancestors
Christian Bailey and Jake Gunnar Walsh for an incredible job filming, managing, car servicing and driving, hugging me as i cried, simply and deeply being some of my closest human beings
Victoria Isabella Guillem Villafuerte for the generous usage of their camcorder, something so beautifully nostalgic and fun
Breaking the Binary Theatre for pushing me to put this idea into fruition
Ithaca College School of Music for the space to release and record
you for receiving these sounds and messages from the bottom of my heart (as well as my heart-drenched sleeves)

creating this project has been a dream of mine after navigating the immeasurable loss of my grandparents five years ago. beyond grateful to have the support and community and love and trust to have made these ideas come to fruition. everything aligns when it aligns.

initially thought of sharing this on trans day of visibility, but truthfully, i am so deeply exhausted of us being visible and remembered and made aware of when some individuals have narrow minded assumptions and prejudices, and i just want us to live long, deserved, safe lives. i am so deeply exhausted of basic human rights continually treated as an afterthought. i am so deeply exhausted by the pain my heart feels day in and day out.

through one of the greatest emotionally and physically pained periods of my life, my commitment to sharing my testimony through music feels like one of the few places i am able to find comfort.
